Why we love it — and why we think you will too.

We're Rachel and Mike — a British couple who moved to Switzerland in 2011 and never looked back. We spent years talking about finding our own little corner of the Alps. A place we could truly call our own, where we could slow down, breathe and wake up to mountain views.

In spring 2026, we finally found it. We came across the apartment beside the Davos Lake, walked in and just knew it was the place for us. We could already picture it: sitting on the veranda with a morning coffee watching the light move across the mountains. Snuggling up inside on a winter's evening with the windows glowing and the snow falling outside. The moment we stepped out into the meadow and saw the light reflecting the Alps and the proximity to the stunning lake, that was it.

Of course, we had to think practically too — and this place ticked every box. The bus stop is literally outside the front door. The Parsenn ski lift is six minutes away by bus. Davos town centre, with all its shops, restaurants and conveniences also just minutes away. Underground parking. A private washer-dryer. A fully equipped kitchen and plenty of space for family and friends to stay. - it had everything we were looking for.

But it's the feeling of the place that really got us. The meadow. The stream. The lake. The open sky. The quiet. We are renovating it with care and plan to stock it with everything we'd want ourselves if we were staying somewhere for the first time.

One thing that's shaping Davos Lake Escape more than anything else is travel. Between us we've explored an enormous amount of the world — different countries, different cultures, wildly different types of accommodation from simple mountain huts to beautiful boutique hotels. Every trip teaches you something. What makes a place feel immediately welcoming. The small details that make you feel thought of rather than just processed. The difference between somewhere you stay and somewhere you remember.

We've taken all of that and are pouring it into this apartment. It's the little things that mean you arrive and feel settled within minutes rather than hours. We know what it feels like to walk into somewhere that's been genuinely cared for — and that's exactly what we want every guest to feel at Davos Lake Escape.

We're not just hosts — we actually live this. Our two daughters, now 8 and 10, have grown up skiing these slopes and hiking these trails. Mike runs ultras through these mountains and covers routes most people only see from cable cars. Between us we know this valley deeply, in every season and at every pace — and we love nothing more than helping guests find their own version of it.

We hope that Davos Lake Escape gives you the same feeling it gives us. A place where the world slows down and for a little while at least, real life pauses.
